Details: | Rolling Acres will soon switch to the existing drilled well as a source. Meanwhile, I clarified with Kelly some of their future plans. The holding tank is a below-ground concrete tank with a wooden roof cover; it looks like a house roof. The roof and wooden sides are old and deteriorating. For this reason, they intend to keep chlorinating for residual maintenance purposes after switching to the new water source (though no bacteria detected in that source's water to date) following this plan: • By March 30 - Switch to new water source (existing drilled well) and continue chlorinating but only for residual maintenance purposes (no longer to meet the daily GWR 4-log viral inactivation requirement). • By approximately end of April - Drain & clean the tank, construct a new roof/cover over tank and seal everything up. Continue residual maintenance chlorination. • By approximately August - Rebuild the pumphouse (also currently in poor shape) and install a UV system there that will treat water as it leaves the storage tank. Then they will discontinue residual maintenance chlorination. They would rather have UV disinfection (for peace of mind purposes) than chlorine because some residents have sensitive skin conditions. |
