Details: | SUMMARY: Responded to alert for pos. test result for coliform and for an ND chlorine residual received by DHS on 11/14/06 and by Linn County on 11/15/06 DETAILS: Routine taken on 11/8/06 at 1820 Hafez Lane outside tap (routine no. 1) was positive for total coliform. Operator was notified of the positive test on 11/15/06 because the contact person, David Alford, has been out of town and all messages went to Mr. Alford’s voicemail. Operator reports that the chlorinator went out 1.5 to 2 weeks ago. Linn County received the chlorine residual level alert showing 0.0 ppm in the system on 11/15/06. System has not been chlorinating since that time. Operator just received the part needed for repairs on 11/14/06 and has not had a chance to repair it. System is chlorinating for residual maintenance because of build-up in the distribution system. Operator says that he has not had time to take 4 repeats. I requested that he have the lab take the repeats ASAP and that he hire a company to repair the chlorinator ASAP or do it himself ASAP. After reviewing SDWIS I discovered that the system has had many chlorine residual readings of 0.0 or 0.1 ppm in the past year. This is our first chlorine residual ND alert. ACTION NEEDED: Follow up on 11/17/06 to ensure that repeats have been taken and that the chlorinator is back on line. Talk to water system about chlorine residual history and discuss using the circuit rider for help in maintaining the residual. |
