| Details: | SUMMARY: Fecal coliform positive alert DETAILS: On Saturday, Oct. 7, the water system received word that two repeat water samples taken at the high school were fecal coliform positive. The water system took the following action. Shock treated the water system with chlorine. Notified the water users of the situation. I reviewed the notice with Dave. Took chlorine residual measurements throughout the system (residuals were 0.5 to 0.6 ppm). Will take additional samples today (Monday, Oct. 9) The Gilchrist Schools will be closed today and tomorrow. We do not know the source of the contamination but believe that part of the problem is a soap dispenser that is attached to the faucet on the janitors sink in the high school from which a sample was taken. Results of samples taken, Monday Oct. 9 2006 were negative for total and fecal coliform (E. coli). Notification attached. ACTION NEEDED: n/a | ||
