Details: | Steve phoned to give me an update on a couple of significant deficiencies - his research on their cross connection devices, and he couldn't find the latest radiological results for the 2019 CCR. I emailed him the links to the test results on Data Online. He said he would send me the revised CCR with this info. We also discussed the logging by Roseburg Timber scheduled in their watershed in summer of 2021. Roseburg has been working on the roads already, and Steve suspects that activity may the source of their xylene detection in late 2019. Steve has now talked to the forester for Roseburg Timber (Tim ___). Steve was hoping Tim would attend the GV Water Association's annual meeting which is usually held in March. With the current coronavirus outbreak restrictions, they are not able to hold that meeting this month. I suggested they still hold a meeting later (maybe June) because the proposed logging activity is a threat to their water quality. Their existing treatment system does not have the capacity to deal with an increased sediment load. Steve said one or two residents are interested in the logging impacts. I again encouraged Steve to get in touch with Jacquie Fern of DEQ, who does source water protection work for systems using surface water sources. She has experience in opening the dialogue about upstream impacts, best management practices, preferred timing, etc., to minimize the impacts on the drinking water of these residents. I emailed Steve her contact information again, and gave Jacquie a heads-up. |
