Details: | SUMMARY: Positive Coliform Result DETAILS: On May 14, 2007 I received a phone call from homeowners on the city of Sodavilles water system. They stated they received a Boil Water Notice with their water bill and called the DWP because they were unable to contact the water system. On May 15, I contacted the system operator, Karen Corrington. Corrington explained that the system sampled routinely for coliforms on May 8. On May 10, the system was informed by the lab that analyzed the sample, Waterlab Corp., that coliform results were positive. Waterlab informed the system about the positive by leaving a voicemail on the citys message phone at 6:15 pm on May 10. As soon as they heard the message and before conducting repaet sampling, Corrington sent Boil Water Notices to all customers with their bills (bills were ready for mailing). Corrington also called Waterlab and requested five sample bottles so that repeat sampling could be conducted as soon as possible. In addition, Corrington contaced John McEvoy at Linn County and sent an email reporting the positve result to the DWP (email sent to Diane Weis on 5/10/07 at 11:04 pm). Corrington said she expects to know the results of the repeats by late afternoon on May 15 or no later than May 16. I asked Corrington to call me when she is informed of the results. As of 11 am today, May 15, the DWP has not received notification of the positive results from Waterlab Corp. ACTION NEEDED: Follow up with Waterlab Corp. to determine why they did not report the positive sample result to the DWP as required. |
