| Details: | SUMMARY: Arsenic Running Annual Average Exceeded for 2nd Quarter 2007. DETAILS: I spoke with Roy Sprout, Public Works Director, on 5/21/2007 regarding the arsenic results dated 4/23/2007 for the Garden Lake Wellfield and the Emerald Valley Wellfield. The running annual average for arsenic at the Garden Lake Wellfield is 0.010 mg/L, which does not exceed the MCL of 0.010 mg/L. However, the running annual average for the Emerald Valley Wellfield is 0.0160 mg/L, which does exceed the MCL. Therefore, public notice is now required and must be issued to all customers within 30 days. I emailed the template and instructions to Roy on 5/21/2007. Roy also updated me on the Citys plans to replace their current water treatment plant with a membrane filtration plant, which will address their surface water source. They are working on plans to address their groundwater sources, possibly by blending groundwater with treated surface water or treating the groundwater sources either at the wellfields or at the treatment plant. Construction on the system upgrades will hopefully begin in 2008. In the meantime, they are researching the affects of wellfield useage on the AS levels in the hopes of altering wellfield production to reduce AS levels in the system. ACTION NEEDED: Await copy of public notice and continue to review quarterly AS results and running annual average. | ||
