Details: SUMMARY: Investigate coagulants DETAILS: The Garden Valley WA is a small system operated by Cindy and Pat with Ray Doan as the system DRC. The most recent request for assistance was to investigate her current dissatisfaction with the coagulant performance. She has been using an Isopac product and believes the quality control of the last barrel was different. I inspected the off-line barrel which was a different color than the barrel on-line. The little quantity of product left in the barrel appeared dark in color when compared to the chemical on line. Cindy could not be certain if labeling was removed since the barrel arrived. The barrel in question apparently was shipped without an MSDS, according to Cindy. I am currently working with the supplier to obtain a credit or other compensation for what the client presumes was an inferior product. Im not confident we will receive a full credit for the 55 gallon drum of product. With my experience, for many years as an operator, on occasion, certain products, if allowed to sit in storage for extreme amounts of time, will separate and become less effective. The more likely scenario with the current polymerized products is a variation of polymers. Cindy received a drum of less active polymer than the Isopac product she is familiar with. The real solution to the problem is never receiving a product without the proper MSDS paper work and corresponding labeling. In this particular case, Cindy was not available at delivery. An SOP was written for the receiving of deliveries for anyone on site to follow to avoid such an incident from reoccurring. ACTION NEEDED: Work with Cindy when requested.
