| Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed water quality complaint DETAILS: We received a call from Floyd Vanderwellen (541-267-4071) regarding discolored water. His house, which is 100 years old, is the last on a dead-end street. The water line on this street is apparently 2" PVC which is only about 4 years old, but may lack a blow-off assembly or flushing valve. Rob Schab at Coos Bay North Bend Water Board responded to my call, and indicated that there are system-wide problems with manganese at this time of year, and that this was compoumded by a 14" water main break two days ago, near the complainant. So the already slightly discolored water was further insulted by this disruption. Staff have contacted the complainant and explained the situation. The board will see if it is feasible to install a blow-off on this line, and is investigating long-term solutions for manganese control. ACTION NEEDED: None. Situation is resolved. | ||
