Details: | SUMMARY: Water system controls and improvements options DETAILS: Langlois has in-plant alarms and critical set points that shut down the plant on high NTUs and low Cl residual. These alarms are not currently tied into a dialer to notify the operator when these incidents occur. Dave had reviewed the water system controls and improvements engineering report provided by the circuit rider programs Terry Nelson in October 2006. The Langlois plant had recently had a shut-down on low chlorine, discovered hours after the incident, resulting in a significant loss of production. The engineering report prioritizes improvement options and alarm notification is noted as being of the highest priority. The ability to pursue other district duties while the water plant runs unattended is important to Dave as the sole operator of the system. I emphasized the need to pursue the recommendations made in the report as a primary option to monitor the treatment process but to install additional alarms for fire and intrusion. Low water alarms at the intake and storage reservoir would also be valuable. Consider a Sensaphone 1108 or 1108RC (USA Bluebook). Installed estimate (excluding phone service and intruder/fire system): $2,500 ACTION NEEDED: Be available with technical assistance if requested in the future by the district. |
