Details: | SUMMARY: Reviewed Lead & Copper monitoring and compliance DETAILS: We reviewed details of the Lead & Copper monitoring and information compiled by Susan Burch and Delbert Bell in a 10 page chronology. The school has not been in violation of the Lead action level since March of 2004, but the school has not completed all tasks necessary to meet full compliance based on fixture replacement strategy. Specifically, the teachers lounge and library sinks still seem to be equal to or slightly greater than the action level, despite the fixtures being replaced. Also, several samples from the EP/Source are near the action level. Therefore, the following actions are recommended: Klamath County will assess the routine IOC results due this year, the school will do the 2 step sampling procedure at the teachers lounge and the library to assess if additional fixture or piping replacement is warranted, the school will submit the requested building plan so the county can assess if all reasonable fixtures have been sampled, and potential additional actions will be evaluated by the county based on all the collected information. Two samples from August 31, 2005 have not been entered in SDWIS. The results were 0.018 mg/l at the teachers lounge, and 0.015 mg/l at the library. The school has continued to serve bottled water even though most drinking fountains and water faucets are in compliance with the action level. ACTION NEEDED: School to take follow-up samples as required to determine if additional fixture or piping replacement is necessary. |
