| Details: | SUMMARY: Customer complaints about white substance in water supply DETAILS: Numerous customers have complained about a white substance in the water that is plugging faucet screens and causing other problems. The problem apparently started on Wednesday evening 8/22 this week. I talked to 2 customers including Ron Burger. I also talked to Kathy Miller and Michael Dougherty of PUC. PUC has heard from some customers and recommends that people use the toll free PUC number 1-800-522-2404. I also talked to the owner Carol Lin, and the new manager Wendy Slembrouck. They stated that Darrell Lund, DRC operator for the system would be flushing the system in the affected area Friday afternoon. Darrell called me and was continuing to flush after 5 pm and was contacting specific customers who had complained. He collected samples of the white substance and will take it to Klamath Environmental lab to see if it can be identified. Darrell will also collect coliform samples on Monday. ACTION NEEDED: Klamath County Health Department staff and Darrell Lund recommended that affected water customers use bottled water if they have concerns. | ||
