Details: | I spoke with Mr. Salberg on 4/15 at 3:30 pm and again at 4:00 pm. Mr. Salberg reports that the Narrows Tavern has been closed for a month prior to taking the sample. He sent an employee who does not normally take water samples to collect the sample. After speaking directly with the employee, it is clear that the sample was taken from the women's restroom sink without proper sampling procedures. Specifically, the employee reported not sanitizing the water outlet, taking the sample immediately (not letting the water run) and not washing hands prior to taking the sample. Mr. Salberg's well is not treated and as such, he was informed he will need to collect one source sample (at the well) and three repeat distribution samples. He plans to collect these samples at the kitchen's 3 compartment-sink, women's restroom (+TCR), and bar sink within 24 hours. We discussed the proper sample collection techniques to include the following: (1) Wash hands prior to taking the sample. (2) Sanitize the water outlet prior to letting the water run. (3) Let the water run for 2-3 minutes. (4) Open specimen jar only immediately before taking the sample and seal immediately. (5) Transport sample according to lab specifications. |
