| Details: | SUMMARY: TC Positive Alert Response DETAILS: Spoke with Julie, who collects the samples. Discovered the school is using a new well source that was drilled in 2001. The well had been run over by a vehicle, and the casing and cap were damaged. The casing was repaired by Harney Pump and Irrigation by cutting off the uppermost portion that was bent and replacing the cap. Either the damaged casing or the repair work likely introduced bacteria into the system. School Board member Norm Clark has poured four gallons of bleach down the well to disinfect it. I recommended flushing the bleach out starting immediately. The school has been providing bottled water to the students since the coliform detections, so noone there is drinking the water at present. ACTION NEEDED: PWS to post public notice, collect five routine samples in October, install some kind of protection against vehicles at wellhead. DWP to review well construction. | ||
