| Details: | David called to report that they are detecting a chlorine residual of trace to 0.7 ppm in their unchlorinated water system. They do not add chlorine to the well or a tank (that only serves a few customers), yet their lab notified them of a residual. About two weeks ago, they opened up their intertie with Bay City, a chlorinated system. they checked and both valves are closed. they feel their backflow prevention program is robust. there are a few dairy farms on the system but they have backflow prevention devices. they have not been able to detect a pattern (to see where it might be coming from) when they have checked residuals all over the system. They will try flushing the entire system with their automatic flushers, and check throughout the system over the weekend. I also advised them to collect additional coliform samples. They will consider sending a notice to customers asking if anyone is using a chlorinator. |
