Assistance Type: CIRCUIT RIDER ASSISTANCE

Details: Upgraded 2005 due to high nitrate readings. At the time drilled a new well to relocate into a deeper aquifer, installed storage, added iron treatment & water softening. Appears control unit which controls back flushing water softeners may be bad, & we have been unable to find replacement. As we started reviewing we realized it has been awhile since our system was reviewed to make sure it is operating optimally, as well the installation doesn't appear to match what was originally designed. They are interested in having system evaluated & assessed for recommendations & best practices to ensure capability going forward.

The circuit rider had site visit to Woodland on 2/4/20. Dennis Keisling indicated main problem was a faulty water softener control valve. He had been unable to source a new controller card to replace the existing one was believed to be faulty. The circuit rider was unfamiliar with this particular brand of water softener & suggested that a 3rd party more familiar with water softeners & troubleshooting of water softeners may be of better assistance. Shane from Dave’s Pump Service in Corvallis met with Dennis on 2/10/20 & thought the valve & valve controller were in operable condition. Shane also found a partially opened manual bypass valve may have been the reason for suspecting controller was faulty. The next day, the softeners continued to operate in an erratic fashion. The disinfection day tank & brine tank for the water softeners are very close to the water softener controllers, & thought cards are likely corroded & malfunctioning. We spoke with Dennis on 2/13/20 & discussed option of installation of new cards from a source circuit rider had provided. It is recommended that the brine tank & hypochlorite day tank relocated to a place either vented or further away from the water softeners to avoid accelerated corrosion of the new cards. Want to have CT study performed once they had sorted out their operational issues.
