| Details: | SUMMARY: Provide operational recommendations for periods following a blue green algae bloom DETAILS: HBH was contacted by Karen Kelley of DWP following the issuance of a health advisory for Siltcoos Lake in Lane County which had a bloom of potentially toxic blue-green algae. The lake is the sole water source for the system. Due to the potential for release of toxins into the water as a result of the algae, restrictions were placed on the treated water as well as the lake. Karen requested that HBH investigate and report on operational options for drinking water systems during and following a blue green algae bloom. I investigated the health hazards and treatment options for drinking water systems using source water containing toxic blue-green algae. Completed summary report with recommendations for water treatment and testing. ACTION NEEDED: None | ||
