| Details: | SUMMARY: Emergency Assistance due to Water Loss DETAILS: HBH was contacted by DWP regarding water system problems resulting in pressure loss. Following a significant rain event, turbidities increased in Barney Creek such that treatment of the raw water was not possible. This caused reservoir levels to drop. Shortly thereafter, a major water break caused the water system to loose pressure, such that much of the system was below 20 psi. After contracting DWP, a precautionary Boil Water Notice was issued. Upon filling the water distribution system, additional leaks developed. This prevented the system from being rapidly refilled. I rode with the District manager during the systems attempts to find and repair leaks to the water distribution system. We discussed possible locations for leaks, operation of the water treatment plant, proper notification procedures and future prevention alternatives. ACTION NEEDED: Continue contact with system. At the request of DWP, help facilitate a debriefing meeting after the emergency is over. | ||
