Details: | SUMMARY: Water Quality Issues DETAILS: HBH representing DWP received notice from Gary Burnett that the Round Lake Estates had recently had a pump failure. I have been coordinating with the agencies involved regarding the system’s corrective actions. I visited the well site where I was told that the pump was not replaced-- only the motor had been rewound. I established a sample site at the well head with Darrel for future sampling of the well head. We returned to the office to review system maps and discuss a routine flushing program that could be carried out by maintenance personnel. I flushed the hot water heater at the Estates office and got as expected numerous white particles. The particles may be a result of a break down in the hot water heaters. I reported to Susan my inability to positively identify the white substance due to no material to test and I let her know what I had performed with Darrel thus far. Susan and I went door to door, in the area identified as the problem area, to notify the people that bottled water would be provided until Tuesday the 11th, at which time, results from samples will be known. I returned to the system for the pump installation, and found that the pump was undersized. A new pump cannot be had until 10/3. In conversation with Gary Burnett DWP, it was reported that chlorination began the first week of October with residual being detected at the well head. ACTION NEEDED: Communication with Susan (County), Kristi (System) and Gary Burnett (DWP) to provide technical assistance to resolve problems. |
