Details: | SUMMARY: Follow-up to 3 TC/E Coli repeat samples collected 8/8/07 DETAILS: Teresa called to check on public notification requirements for the PWS. Teresa reported that the PWS immediately removed the hand pump handle, so there is no water currently available. Given status, I told her that no public notification was required. In consultation with Karen Kelley, regional sanitarian for Lane County, we discussed need for public notification to the campers who may have been on site during and since the positive samples. The PWS was then notified by Russ Kazmierczak and Casey Lyon, DHS DWP technical contacts for Lane County, that due to the wells proximity to nearby surface water sources and an inadequate seal, it has the potential to under the influence of surface water and might possibly be contaminated with Giardia and Cryptosporidium. In addition, public notification was required and resources provided. ACTION NEEDED: The DHS DWP will monitor future repeat sample results, collect a copy of the issued public notice, provide technical assistance to the PWS regarding resolution, and work with the PWS on source water protection issues. | ||
