Details: | Background/Problem Identification: Twilight View Estates needs to deliver 2mg/L of Orthophosphate residual into their water system to reduce corrosion issues. This can be done with a chemical metering pump. Civil West Engineering was contacted through the Circuit Rider program to give a recommendation for a metering pump to use. Assistance Provided: After receiving pictures of the system configuration, it is recommended that the system install an LMI PD041-828SI. This can be purchased from Furrow Pump located in Wilsonville, Oregon. They can be reached by phone at 503-682-4411 and email at sales@furrowpump.com. The metering pump should be installed to be powered parallel to the well pump so that when the well pump turns on it will turn on the metering pump as well. The dosage should be set so that the water receives a residual of 2mg/L. The metering pumping rate will be a function of the quantity of water being pumped by the well pump. The metering pumping rate must be set accordingly. This should be a steady rate. If the well pumps at different rates over time, additional controls will have to be installed and a different metering pump should be selected. A HACH test kit should be used to measure orthophosphate in the system. The typical field kit is #2248-00. Read and follow all SDS recommendations. Technical Reports to be Prepared and Expected Timeframe: Memo to Reggie on December 27th, 2019. |
