Details: | SUMMARY: Inability to meet treatment technique standards DETAILS: I spoke to Gary VanDerVeen and he said that the water system is collecting a coliform sample today in the distribution system. He said that the system had assistance in calibrating the chlorine analyzer yesterday and that chlorine readings at the entrypoint and in the distribution system were being maintained at about 1.8 ppm. He confirmed that the water hauled in was from the City of Tualatin and that the system intended to have users conserve water (due to the filters being off-line - still filtering to waste pending demonstration of removal via colony counts) and use bottled water for drinking. I told him that it was okay for them to serve water without issuing a boil water advisory as long as residuals were maintained in the system and that they did not bring the filters on-line until they could demonstrate removal and the abiltiy to meet the turbidity standards. Gary also added that they were going to have the reservoir cleaned, but were unable to get anyone out there until next week. ACTION NEEDED: System is okay to serve water without boil water advisory as long as chlorine residual is maintained in the system and to continue filtering to waste to ripen the filters. Colony counts and effluent turbidity that met the 1 NTU standard would be needed prior to bringing the filters back on-line. |
