| Details: | SUMMARY: TTHM MCL exceedance, quarterly sampling now required. DETAILS: I received an alert for a TTHM exceedance at the Dean Minard WD on 01/17/2008. The results of an annual sample collected 09/26/2007 were 0.122 mg/L, exceeding the MCL of 0.080 mg/L. The District purchases water from the City of Coquille and has no additional treatment or storage. I informed Cammie Owens that quarterly sampling is now required via email on 02/08/2008. I also recommended the District begin an active flushing program to help reduce the amount of organic material in the old distribution piping and reduce the chlorine residence time. The City of Coquille also has problems with DBPs and will begin construction on treatment plant upgrades this spring to reduce the amount of TOC in the treated water in addition to eliminating the pre-chlorination process. ACTION NEEDED: Monitor quarterly DBP sample results and calculate running annual average for compliance purposes. Public notice will not be required until the RAA is exceeded. | ||
