| Details: | SUMMARY: FC Positive Alert Response DETAILS: Mike called to let DWP know that the routine sample collected 4/7/08 tested positive for both total and fecal coliform. Drove to the motel to meet with Mike. The chlorinator had malfunctioned. Mike had it running again by the time I arrived. Mike had no chlorine test kit, so I left DWPs kit with him until he can order one. Inspected the sample tap that had been used - a laundry sink tap that ran through an attached spray hose. I advised Mike to find a better sample tap. Tested for a chlorine residual and found none. I left a copy of the NC "Do Not Drink the Water" public notice. Mike will advise the motel customers not to drink the water until a chlorine residual of at least 0.3 to 0.4 ppm is restored. Reviewed sample collection procedure and collected a sample at the wellhead prior to the chlorination point. Mike will collect four repeat samples 4/9. ACTION NEEDED: PWS to restore chlorine residual, collect four repeat samples, five routine samples in May. | ||
