| Details: | SUMMARY: Followup of an alert for a 5.8 mg/L nitrate sample on Jan.9,2008 DETAILS: The system M/R for nitrates for four consecutive quarters in 2004 and continues to monitor four times a year ( not necessarily in each quarter). I wrote the operator a letter regarding the systems increasing nitrate levels, preventive measures, and possible health effects of higher levels. Letter in file. ACTION NEEDED: Investigate whether nitrate containing chemicals such as fertilizers are being used on property and limit their use. Dicuss you systems nitrate levels with neighboring property owners and ask them to limit nitrate use as much as possible. Continue the quarterly nitrate monitoring you have been doing but if you sample less often than quarterly, please collect one sample in the first quarter of the calenday year (Jan. - Mar). | ||
