| Details: | SUMMARY: Continued coliform detections in repeat sampling DETAILS: This system has had positive coliform and E. coli results since May. Delta Labs has been collecting the samples. The PWS posted and is continuing on with a boil water notice. Earlier this month (6-13?), they replaced a leaking pressure tank as a possible source of contamination. However, a backflow valve was supposed to be installed at the same time but wasnt because it was on backorder. The operator (Everett) had not heard about the missing backflow valve, and took the 4 repeat samples on 6-16-08. He feels that the missing backflow device could account for the positive results, because water from their non-potable fire supply could have gone throughout the system. The backflow device was installed on 6-18, Everett has re-shocked the system, and will again take the additional samples. If coliform still shows up in their water, Dennis Nelson and Tom Pattee feel that their primary source - Well #1 - could be deteriorating. We do not have a well log on file for this well. I suggested this possibility to Everett and asked him to try to locate the log and send it in to us. ACTION NEEDED: Everett will have Delta Labs take 4 repeat samples after this latest change and shock chlorination. | ||
