| Details: | SUMMARY: Alert for positive TC sampled on 5/23/08 and reported to Linn County on 5/28/08 DETAILS: Tim McCalliste was informed on 5/28/08 of the positive TC result at the office sink. Tim said that the maintenance person for the plant repaired a water leak a few days prior to Tim drawing the sample. I discussed with Tim how it is important that he have open communications with maintenance or anyone else who works on the water system. I stressed to Tim that he needs to ensure that as the water system operator proper steps are taken such as disinfecting the distribution system after repairs to avoid contamination. Also routine coliform sampling should not be conducted at the same time that repair work has been done on the distribution system but a "special" coliform sample would be in order. Tim did not call Linn County EH but new to take 4 repeat samples although he did not refer to the updated sampling plan sent to him on 1/22/08. Repeat samples were taken at office sink, lunch room at the Mill building, the restroom sink in the Mill Building and at the wellhead. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for results of repeat sampling conducted on 5/28/08. | ||
