Details: | SUMMARY: Phone call to clarify materials sent in mail DETAILS: Kerry called me to check on some items after receiving my mailing last week about proper coliform sampling procedures. In their PWS, Well 1 services the clubhouse before the point where the water joins with that from Well 2 and continues on to the rest of the distribution system. After the water from the two sources join, the only easy access he has to sample from water faucets is in the bathroom. (After the bathroom, the distribution system goes into the series of private trailers.) After consulting with Casey Lyon, I told Kerry that in his case, with the limited number of access points, he can take both the coliform and the nitrate samples at this bathroom (there are 6 sinks). If he gets a positive coliform result, Kerry will have to ask permission of a trailer owner to take repeat samples further down the distribution system. I also confirmed for Kerry that it is OK to use a bleach solution to sterilize the faucet before coliform sampling. ACTION NEEDED: I will mail Kerry the smaller version of the Emergency Response Plan Model Plan (obtained from Pendleton DWP office). Kerry plans to make up an Emergency Response Plan for the PWS when the busiest part of the season is past. |
