Details: | SUMMARY: none DETAILS: The Hood River County Health Department received a call from Jeff Mitchell, maintenance mechanic, USDA Forest Service, Columbia River Gorge NSA in response to positive results for repeat coliform monitoring samples. The positive TCR repeat sample result triggers a monthly MCL violation. As of 15:44 hours on 7-9-08, no SDWIS alert by electronic messaging (e-mail) has been generated in response to the positive repeat sample results. The water system has posted public notice and is proceeding with shock chlorination on 7-9-08. They intend to let the chlorine shock remain in the system until the end of the week at which time they will flush the system and collect additional samples. The samples will be identified as special samples. If the special samples indicate an absence of coliform then 5 routine samples will be collected in the month of August. Plans are still ongoing to submit engineering proposals to replace/repair the existing well to restore/improve the water source. The hope is to pull the existing casing, drill a deeper well through the existing bore, reinstall the casing with proper screens, and properly seal the casing. ACTION NEEDED: The Hood River County Health Dept will continue to work with the USFS Wyeth Campground to assure potable water is restored. | ||
