Details: | SUMMARY: Alert for E coli positive in repeat TC samples DETAILS: In response to recent TC positive, water system collected 3 repeat samples - on Friday August 8, 2008 the results showed 2 of 3 samples positive for E Coli. I first called and left message for Luellen Kelly at Falcon Heights WS (SoCo Corporation) - office was closed. In my message I notified Luellen of the requirement to issue a Tier 1 Boil Water Advisory within 24 hours. I also notified her of the need for immediate corrective action (shock chlorination of supply wells) and checking of the existing chlorination system (curiously, lab samples showed no entries for Cl residual). I then called Sping Street Analytical to find out if they could provide alternate contact number for WS. Lisa at the lab said Rob Grounds is operator of the WS and provided his number. I was able to reach Rob and provided him the same info as I left in message to Luellen. Rob mentioned that they had recently changed from gas chlorination to Na hypochlorite system ("gas probably exhausted"). [Plan review for liquid chlorination system ??]. Rob was on his way to the WS to perform shock chlorination. He will also check new liquid Cl injection system. I suggested he do what he could to inform the WS members of the need to boil water - he will get a "calling" tree organized as best he can. I also notified him that he needed to contact Daniel Osborn or Delbert Bell at Klammath County to inform them about the E coli results and his corrective actions. I will email this report to Klammath County as well. ACTION NEEDED: Check with County contacts to verify that confirmation samples are taken at appropriate time following the shock chlorination, proper issuance of Boil Water Advisory, etc. |
