| Details: | SUMMARY: Too much caustic soda into water - pH of 11 DETAILS: Jeff called to say that he got a taste complaint fron the middle school, investigated, and found that the waters pH was at 11. He traced this to an overdosing of caustic soda - he forgot to turn off the override for the chemical pump when he was adjusting it earlier. Steps he took: providing signage and bottled water, and flushing the system. No Public Notice was required in this case. He asked whether caustic soda is OK to use in drinking water systems for the corrosion control purposes (since it was ordered before he arrived in the job), and I confirmed that it was. I also provided contact information for a state toxicologist in case he gets any more inquiries about possible exposure to the high pH water. ACTION NEEDED: All necessary actions already taken. | ||
