Details: | SUMMARY: Positive total coliform DETAILS: This is a newly activated system and was formerly operated by the USFS but was sold to private owner in August of 2000. The system was deactivated by the USFS. The system has actually been active since that date. The property owners have rented out six houses on the property since that date. Contact was initiated with property owner through a renters complaint about water quality. The owners have recently installed a UV light disinfection system which was said to have been plan reviewed by the DWAP. They have begun regular quarterly testing. The latest quarterly test came back positive for coliform. Scott Kruger spoke to Donald Wagner about the latest test on 10-27-08. He stated that he drew the sample from an outside hose bib that had previously had a hose attached to it. The hose was not attached while the sample was drawn. It would appear from our discussion that he did properly flush the hose bib or attempt to sanitize the hose bib. Donald Wagner was instructed to use a 10% bleach solution on the hose bibs he was testing from and allow them to flush for at least five minutes. He was instructed to take four repeat samples, one at the original sampling point, one up stream, one down stream and at the well head. He was informed that repeat samples should be taken and submitted within 24 hours. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for results of four repeat samples. | ||
