| Details: | SUMMARY: algae bloom-health advisory DETAILS: Spoke with Dan about recent health advisory that was issued on 10/28/08 for Siltcoos lake. Anabaena spp. dominated the bloom and this species is capable of producing both microcystin (liver toxin), and anatoxin (neutotoxin). Because south Coast w.d. has an intake on Siltcoos lake I advised Dan to take a sample of treated water for toxin analysis similar to what he did last summer when there was a bloom on Siltcoos lake. Dan said he cannot afford the monitoring costs this year and will not pay for the toxin analysis. I advised Dan to notify the users of the water system and let them know of the health advisory now issued. I advised Dan to tell customers not to drink the water until we get results indicating the water is safe to drink. Dan said he will have his receptionist call everybody on South Coast W.D. ACTION NEEDED: notify users of health advisory. | ||
