| Details: | SUMMARY: E-coli positive routine sample taken 12/29/08 DETAILS: I received an e-mail from Michelle Van Kleeck (DWP) that she received a phone call from Robert Barne who was seeking assistance for an e-coli positive sample taken 12/29/08. I called Robert and said the sample was taken from their first customer, so I said he should take 4 repeat samples (one at the same site, one just after the reservoir, one within five connections downstream of the reservoir, and one at the end of the distribution system). Although the database shows that they are disinfecting for iron removal, Mr. Barne thought that it was added for disinfection, so I recommended he take a special sample at the well, prior to disinfection to make sure that the well was not contaminated. I recommended he flush the system, check chlorine residuals in the distribution system, and adjust dose as needed to maintain a detectable residual. ACTION NEEDED: Take 4 repeat samples in the distribution system. Take 1 special sample from the well prior to any treatment. Flush and maintain a detectable chlorine residual in the distribution system. | ||
