| Details: | SUMMARY: Total coliform received October 13, 2008 DETAILS: I asked the operator if he was aware that the free chlorine residual reading on the day of the positive coliform sample was 0.0 ppm. He said the residual that was taken that day was 0.2 ppm. He discovered a hole in the chlorine pumps tubing after the positive TC notification and realized that no chlorine was being injected into the system. He has since fixed the pump and shocked the reservoir with 1 gallon of bleach. I advised him to flush the reservoir and take 4 repeats when the chlorine residual I back to a minimum 0.2 ppm in the distribution system by following the CBSP. I asked him to take the 4th repeat sample at the raw sample tap to check on the source water quality as they have been disinfecting for residual maintenance of the redwood reservoir only. I reminded the operator that he is required to monitor and record the chlorine residual within the distribution system on a daily basis, 7 days a week. I asked the operator to provide Linn County EH with a map of the distribution system and to stop by to update the systems coliform bacteria sampling plan. I informed the operator that 5 routine samples are due in November. ACTION NEEDED: Update the coliform bacteria sampling plan. | ||
