| Details: | SUMMARY: Informal Plan Review for Centrifugal Action Sand Separator DETAILS: County notified DWP that this water system was installing a centrifugal action sand separator. DWP notified County that an informal plan review was required - distributor called me to discuss review and installation. He proposed installing Lakos H20-30 system for well pumping rate of 20 to 30 gpm for removal of sand and sediment from drinking water. I told him that DWP was concerned that the cloudiness in the water might be a result of clay or other fine particles which would not be removed by the centrifuge. He stated that he had informed owner that this may not entirely solve problem but owner wanted him to proceed. I told him that the manufacturer recommended pressure gauges before and after unit. Also, DWP would require documentation that unit is NSF approved (Standard 61). He called manufacturer and found that unit is not NSF certified. They stopped installation and seemed appreciative that DWP alerted him to the NSF issue. He will advise the water system to seek alternate solutions to their problem. I provided the contact info for HBH and explained the free circuit rider service. ACTION NEEDED: None at this time. | ||
