| Details: | SUMMARY: Action steps for positive total coliform DETAILS: routine TC sample was taken after the seasonal closure of the camp with a positive result. Required repeats not taken within the appropriate time due to the Thanksgiving holiday and the system being closed to the public. ACTION NEEDED: Repeat samples will not be required. Since the sample was taken after the system was closed the sample will be changed to a special sample not representative of water people are drinking. Since they did not sample between Sept 30th and when they closed on Nov 17th they will get a non reporting violation for 4th quarter 2008, the other option is to get a repeat sampling violation, much worse. They need to take a special sample to ensure that the well is clean before bringing it back on line and re opening the camp. If the special samples come back clean, then they can bring the well back on line. System can resume quarterly monitoring as usual once they open next spring. They need to ensure that they sample when the system is open for each quarter that the system is open. Since they are open from May 1st to Oct 31st, they need one sample from each of three quarters, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. No further action required by Clatsop County. | ||
