Details: SUMMARY: Follow up on coliform alert DETAILS: Sample on 11/28/08 was positive for total coliform. The water system has not been in use since approximately January 2008. The owners wanted to keep the system active because they planned to update the restaurant and re open it within a few months. It will re-open January 2009. The operator told me that because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the lab drew the sample early without notifying him and he was not able to flush the system. The operator states that the water has been used off and on for several months but at the time of the sample, November 25, 2008, the water had not been used for approximately 8 or more days. The operator also reported that he has been working on the distribution system. I have sent an email to Chuck Michaels requesting that this ample be invalidated because the water had not been used or flushed prior to the sample being drawn, therefore it was not a representative sample. ACTION NEEDED: Operator will take 4 repeat samples after flushing the distribution system. Follow up sampling will depend on the results of the repeat samples.
