Details:	SUMMARY: Filter Media Evaluation DETAILS: The City of Westfir owns and operates a Surface Water system. The City supplies treated water to 320 residents through 120 connections. HBH was contacted by Mr Smith to provide assistance with performance issues in one of the City’s slow filter basins. The city has had repeated difficulty with one of the two filter basins ever since the media was replaced. Finished water turbidity levels are below the MCL, However, the second filter takes considerably longer to ripen. In addition, the ultimate turbidity levels in the second filter are significantly higher than the first filter. I assisted Mr Smith with finding proper gradation of sand. Talked with other water systems to determine the “best source” for media. ACTION NEEDED: Continuing investigation of media quality.
