Details: | SUMMARY: Follow-up on alert for 4 positive TC routine samples drawn on 1/6/09. DETAILS: Four out of five routine samples taken on 1/6/09 as follow-up samples to the 3 positive repeat samples taken on 12/5/08 and initial positive on 12/2/08, were also positive for total coliform. Jeff states that Morse Brothers has a contract with Alpine Pump for water system assistance. Alpine did not inform Jeff of the recent positive samples until Jeff called them on 1/9/09. Jeff said it sounds like Alpine Pump did not shock the well as discussed on 12/4/08, but shocked the reservoir and the water distribution lines only. The source water was absent for coliform on 12/5/08 & 1/6/09, but was the initial positive on 12/2/08 when the sample was taken there as the routine sample site. I reminded Jeff that the sampling plan needs to be followed. Alpine Pump informed Jeff that they recommend a disinfection system. This system has not had a microbiological contamination issue before this time. The Source Water Assessment Report dated May 2005, indicates that the aquifer supplying the well is a deep, confined, alluvial aquifer with a depth to the first water bearing zone of 112 feet. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for more information on the shock procedure from Jeff, then determine the next course of action. | ||
