Details: | SUMMARY: Assistance with Chemical Concentrations DETAILS: The City of Seaside owns and operates a Surface Water system, which approximately 6000 people through 3600 connections. The City treats water from the Necanicum River through a dual-train, upflow clarifier and rapid-sand package treatment system. HBH was contacted by Ben Davis following the receipt of requirements resulting from their most recent Sanitary Survey. For this contact, the City requested assistance with determining concentration percentages of the Nalco 8735 PH Stabilizer. I contacted various individuals with Nalco in an attempt to determine the actual concentrations of Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Hydroxide. Eventually, it was determined that Nalco mixes each patch to meet general concentration requirements as set forth in the MSDS date sheet. The pH stabilizing properties of each batch is test to ensure performance. Therefore, it is not possible for the WTP operators to determine the actual percentages without more significant testing. ACTION NEEDED: Confirm findings with operators. |
