| Details: | SUMMARY: 5 TC positive routine May samples DETAILS: I received a phone duty call from Cheryl Warner advising that in April, the Westport Heights WS had a positive coliform, had done four repeats that proved negative and now did the 5 samples for the following month (May) and they all came back positive for TC (not FC). She wondered what to do. I explained the reason for the increased supplemental sampling and how it was good that it was done because clearly they have at least an intermittent source of contamination. I asked if they chlorinated. She said they did. I asked if they had checked the residual when they sampled. She said yes, that it was 2.1 ppm. I said that was a very high number and very unlikely to yield 5 positives. I said that as far as the rule goes, they need to do some intervention based on whatever they think is most likely to be the source of the problem and then resample with the four followup. I told her to pay particular close attention to the operation of the chlorinator or any breach of the reservoir. Note: I did not get a phone number from Cheryl.
