Details: | SUMMARY: LCR excursion DETAILS: Left message for Jeff. Explained that hi ph dropped below the minimum 3 times last month and I wanted to find out if he had any ideas as to why. Also mentioned that the EPA chemist, Michael Schock had encouraged Jeff to look into aeration treatment - wanted to find out the status on that also. Jeff replied back with the following email. I am finding caustic soda a sensitive corrosion control agent. Any disruption in the system ie: chemical pumps loosing its prime, unusual water volumes, chlorine levels-- results in a wild swing in ph levels. Because of the sensitive nature of caustic soda I try to keep the hp readings as close go minimum as possible which at times drops below set levels. If I maintain caustic soda levels higher to provide a larger buffer zone I receive complaints of slimy water. Using aeration is still an option but would require a capital outlay for the district which they are not able to do right now. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to monitor until funding allows other treatment possibilities. | ||
