| Details: | SUMMARY: Routine sample tested positive for E.Coli DETAILS: Called Bob Nelson and informed him of the E.Coli positive routine sample. He said he was aware of the result and does not understand why the sample was positive since the water was purchased from EWEB and hauled to their Cheshire Store #18. Prior to hauling, the water was chlorinated by EWEB. The water was checked for chlorine residual prior to sample collection and the result was 0.5 mg/L. Bob indicated that the tank has already been chlorinated to 5 ppm and he is going to stop serving water over the weekend and will post a notice that water is unavailable due to the possibility that the water is contaminated with E.Coli. He also is going to drain the tank Monday and then refill, chlorinate to 0.3-0.5 ppm chlorine, and then collect the routine samples. ACTION NEEDED: Collect 4 repeat samples from the hauled water storage tank. If one of the repeat samples is E.Coli positive the water system will need to post a Tier 1 Boil Water Notice within 24 hrs. If the repeat samples are negative for coliform, then the water system will need to collect 5 routine samples in August 2009. | ||
