Details: | SUMMARY: Water Filtration and Tank Levels Assistance DETAILS: The system owns and operates a small package plant treatment system as well as the associated distribution system. The system utilizes the South Umpqua River as their source. Ed Kinney, plant operator and Robert Tilton both contacted me on March 4th, concerned that they had been unable to produce potable water from their plant. After some questions it became apparent that I may need to respond in person to troubleshoot the problem. The problem appeared to be an overfeed of coagulant, without a jar tester I ball parked the dose using the dose the Tri City WTP was using, although Tri City uses a different chemical. After several hours and several backwashes the plan started producing filtered water that met standards and could be released to the distribution system. The problem appeared to have been complicated by rapidly changing river conditions and a new chemical feed pump. The Bench Turbidimeter at the plant was not working so I cross checked the online turbidity with a portable tubidimeter at Rivers West WTP to rule out a calibration problem. The system has since purchased and received a new bench tubidimeter. ACTION NEEDED: None |
