Details: | SUMMARY: response to citizen concerned about water DETAILS: At 2 pm today (8/5) I spoke with Diane in response to her concern about the drinking water in Seaside. She indicated that both patrons and employees of the Carasell Mall in Seaside have reported being sick and have experienced vomitting symptoms. She reported taste and odor complaints from many business owners in town. She relayed that she spoke to Neal Wallace, PWD on 8/3, and he indicated that the City is meeting federal/state regulations, and updated her on the activated carbon unit that was installed to address the issue. I reiterated that the City is in compliance with the regulations, and that samples of both raw and treated water did not detect toxins of concern (microcystin and Annatoxin). I summarized that DWP is in close contact with the City on measures they are taking to address the compliants. Mentioned that City published a notice in the Seaside Signal on July 23 to this effect. ACTION NEEDED: As Diane continued to express concern that something be done to address the high number of reported illnesses, I indicated that I would share her concerns with individuals with Pubic Health. I also indicated that I would recommend that the City continue to test their water for toxins of concerns as the problems continue. |
