| Details: | SUMMARY: Contact concerning Main break 3/30/08 DETAILS: Someone mentioned to this office that Shaniko had run out of water a couple of weeks back. I called the operator on site and he informed me that there was a main break near the boosted pump/chlorinator building. Due to the location of the break and the availability of repair parts the town was out of water for 2 days. I asked Mark that he inform this office when events like this happen again. There needed to be a Boil Water Notice posted until water tests confirmed the water safe to drink microbiologically. He did mention that he turned up the chlorinator to approximately .8ppm and told people not to drink the water for 5 hrs or so. ACTION NEEDED: Notify WSHD in the future when operational failures occur to proper notification and follow-up takes place. | ||
