Details: | SUMMARY: Emergency Troubleshooting Springs Production DETAILS: The system owns and operates a Ground Water system, which supplies approximately 70 people through 32 connections. The system source is a low output spring. The spring water is chlorinated with liquid hypochlorite. HBH was contacted by Amy Kim to provide emergency assistance with troubleshooting of the spring production. Production from the spring has decreased to a level which would not support the basic demands of the system. Due to the production issue, the water system had lost pressure on a few occasions. I visited the system and inspected the spring box. Assisted system volunteers in digging out sediment in the spring box to determine whether the flow of the box was compromised. Discovered flow of water not coming through the spring infiltration pipe. Recommended that the system test the spring flow after all of the sediment was removed from the box. Also recommended testing flow at the spring box itself to determine if the problem may be in the transmission piping. I attended the system Board meeting to discuss water rights issues and potential options for alternative water supply source (i.e. wells). ACTION NEEDED: System to determine rate of flow of springs after maintenance has occurred. HBH to assist system in preliminary investigation of other potential water sources. |
