Details: SUMMARY: follow up on total coliform positives DETAILS: Edan of US Forest Service(wholesaler) called along with Mark Traynor of the Hatcher (purchaser) to discuss follow up after three of the five temporary routines came back total coliform positive on 1/5/10. I indicated Multnomah County the is the lead reg. agency. Also I indicated a total coliform MCL was incurred for January, and that a tier II Public Notice needed to posted. Public notice received at DWP and forwarded to County. Source sample under the GWR taken by USFS at spring came back absent on 1/7. Edan and I discussed corrective action for the hatchery site. ACTION NEEDED: USFS will work with ODF/WL to consider chlorinating spring and portion of hatchery system where positives occurred, valving off residential area which returned coliform absent samples in Jan. USFS will consider adding a concentration of bleach to the spring and let stand at least 12 hours. System would be flushed, then retested for coliform after ensuring a zero chlorine residual. Discuss options with County and DWP. I indicated using caution in disposing of chlorinated water after flushing.
