Details: | SUMMARY: Call Received from Joe Donaldson - Status Update DETAILS: Joe Donaldson called to provide an update on the status of the slow sand filtration system. He said that the turbidimeter was installed and working and filter effluent turbidity was around 0.1 NTU. He said he had completed the VOC sampling for 2009 on Dec 24th and had obtained sample bottles to begin bi-monthly e-coli monitoring for LT2 (1 year of bi-monthly sampling is required from Jan 2010 - Dec 2010). He and Maureen Taylor with Clatsop Co had worked out the SWTR reporting requirements and Brad Carr with HBH spoke with him about the inability to move the current soda ash injection (prior to the clearwell) and setting up a tracer study. I had spoken to Brad Carr last week about moving the soda ash injection after the the 15,000 gallon clearwell, but it was not possible to get a flow-paced delivery system with the variable frequency drive pumps that did not cost an inordinate amount of money. Joe said they were working out some issues with the clearwell effluent flow meter, but operations were steadily improving and he was signed up to take certification exam this spring. ACTION NEEDED: System to proceed with LT2 and SWTR monitoring and continue to work on optimizing operations and acquiring certification. |
