| Details: | SUMMARY: Positive coliform DETAILS: Contacted David by phone. He reported that he was aware of the positive results. He said he shock chlorinated hi spring collection box last night at 11pm. He added approximately 2 gallons of house hold bleach directly into the spring box. David does not know the exact volume of the spring collection tank. He reported that it is approximately 30x4x2.5 = 3003=2250 gallons. David said he does not possess a chlorine test kit. He has not observed a chlorine odor at hi residence on Reed Rd yet. Hood River County Health advised him to acquire a test kit. They also reminded him to post a public notice within 30 days reporting the recent alerts. Collect 5 temporary routine coliform samples in January, once chlorine residual is absent. David said he collected the source water sample 12/21/09 from a residence on Kingsley Rd. immediately after the spring and upstream from the reservoir. There is no raw water sample tap installed at the spring collection area. He also said he has observed plant growth inside the spring collection box. This is likely an indicator that the spring box is vulnerable to environmental contamination and the access hatch does not have an overlapping lid. The access is on the side of the structure and it is unknown whether the access is vulnerable to environmental contamination. ACTION NEEDED: Results of temporary routine samples in January will dictate future actions. | ||
